I sometimes make gravy from an envelope, just add water and stir, because the smell of it cooking and the taste of it reminds me of being a kid.
A kid that sometimes, when shopping with Mom on the weekend at the big department stores, we would go to the department store dining room for a hot meal. Not the basement lunch counter for a hot dog and a grape knee high….
Anyway, I would get a hot hamburger sammich, mashed potatoes and peas. Extra gravy.
Felt very grown up.
Tonight will be hot hamburger, french cut seasoned green beans and I am going to skip out on the mashed tonight.
